The infant seat will have an adjustment on the base that should be tried first – it raises up the seat a bit to give it more recline.
Beyond that – you’re going to get pool noodles (the kinds the kids swim with). You put them in the bite of the seat – here’s a thread that shows some photos: http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=34317
If it is a convertible seat – pull out the manual and find out how to take the base off the seat – there is a removable base on that convertible – you pull a metal pin out and it comes off – it almost always makes a better install without it on.
