can the eddie bauer deluxe 3-in-1 convertible car seat be used rear facing w/out the base?
i have the 3-in-1 deluxe but it doesn't seem to fit too well in my chevy caviler...could i remove the base from the seat and still have it work in rear facing position?

I am in the market for a reasonably priced 3-in-1 car seat..my almost 7 month old (will be 7 months on the 18th) is 18 pounds and 27 inches in length and is getting way too big for his infant/baby carrier...does anyone have any suggestions? I am hoping to stay between the $125-200 price range as money is tight..but want the best and safest deal for my buck...also, we don't have an SUV..a 92 Camaro and 95 extended cab chevy truck...so easy installation and fit are big issues!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated...

does anyone know if the Eddie Bauer convertible 3-in-1 car seat is FAA approved?
we have never travelled with a car seat on the plane before. our daughter will just have turned 1 a few days before we fly. she is a restless little one. we currently have her booked as on our lap but we are thinking on booking a seat for her now and taking the car seat.
is it worth the hassle of lugging the car seat around the airport, etc. we have a 3 yr old travelling also and just 2 sets of hands 
any suggestions or experiences would help. thanks!
