Toddler not in a Child Safety Seat?
Hi,
I live in Fairfax County, Virginia and would like to know what would happen if a Cop stops our car to find that my toddler was in my lap and there were 5 Adults in the car (me, my husband, parents, brother). So there is no room to put the child seat.
What is the rule? Is this an offense like speeding? Would I get a ticket? What would be the penalty?
Let me know. Thanks.
View of the Britax Companion child Car Seat
Fantastic buy, the safest infant seat on the market, Consumer Reports rated one, a lot of features than buying new. We love it. It is heavy to carry, but I do not trust a lighter car seat to hold in a terrible accident and would rather solid sound awfully like this car seat to a cheaper model of lightweight plastic that other manufacturers sell. (The chair is the euro style light and takes up little space in the car, so you just can snap into the seat and not have to carry the car seat around). To solve the weight problem. More information: What you need to know before buying a Britax Companion Infant Car Seat: ReviewThe color and trim look much better in person. In fact, the nurses in the NICU unit (our baby was premature) congratulated during the safety study, our son a car and car seats to see every day, and related this was a nice looking car seat with neat features. (He had to sit there for an hour without a heartbeat or oxygen drops while having their monitors and although it was tiny and looked so small this comfortable seat and kept it in the correct position and that has not mourn once ). I purchased the Cambridge model by Oxford production was delayed so long, I did not have it in time for the birth of Aidan (and apparently goes home with a newborn child and not a chair, no, no). I'm not normal anyway, so why should I care? The Cambridge is not a bad palette - not enough for a wild leap of imagination, and other patterns would have been much more fashionable and cool, but there are reasons that I like. The carseat and heats, but could you imagine a dark color scheme? I think Kentucky Fried Aidan would if I put on a black (or maybe dark blue) carseat. The pattern of Cambridge is manly enough for a child, but also quite sufficient for a girl (for those people who need a more feminine look). Personally, I'd hit a girl in black rather than pink. . . But I know I'm not much of this, and am in possession of a feeling of many parents of girls shown this pattern. I have only washed once (in a particularly tragic situation bath), the rest of the time, I just cleaned the ground. Lighter colors also work well to hide blemishes regurgitation - who have a propensity to appear colourfuly against a dark background. Excess fabric options (and now plastic options), the appearance and quality of fabrics and the simplicity of cleaning that give me an This Britax Companion carseat A. also has an inflatable head support which incorporates it. It is very easy to adjust the straps and stress and all parties are very well done. Another feature is that it has a bar attached to ANTI REBOUND basis for a hard crash of the seat (looking back) will not fly forward into the back of the seat bounce therefore protect the child from getting crashed into the back of the seat. This is the only seat on the market that does this. It has also achieved an excellent side impact protection. Once connected to the base of the seat is safe and it's terribly easy to snap in and out. The bar at the top that are used to run really strong (does not move or snap out of date), but simple to adjust (unlike what another reader said) and has 3 positions and once on the basis of simply pushing the big red button (all that is obviously the label) on both sides and will easily handle all the way back and locks into place so it is behind the seat and acts as another bar on the rebound. I can push forward with your thumbs while sitting next to him and I have arthritis. which is also very nice is that the base is very simple to install. (In the CR test Lock newer car broke only 30 mph for that seat belt use), but comes with the LATCH system and passed. I would definitely buy this again and it was worth every penny.
7 Quick and Easy Tips That Will Keep Your Child Safe on That Driving Getaway
As we enter the warmer months, and finish school, you are more likely to pile into the family car and head on vacation or just a weekend trip. Here are some things you need to know and do to help keep everyone safe.
1. Make sure your car is in perfect condition. That means checking the tires, battery, fluids, belts, and air conditioning. This is especially true if you are going to drive in a warmer climate, and / or towing something like a boat or a trailer which could put added stress on your vehicle.
2. Make sure you are in perfect condition. That means a good night's sleep. Driver sleepiness is supposedly the cause of thousands of accidents every year, so be well rested before going on the hike. Better yet, share the driving duties every few hours with another adult.
3. Pack your emergency kit. You never know when a disaster will disrupt their road trip, so you better be prepared. You want to have items like food and water, flashlight, blankets, first aid kit, tools, jumper cables, flares and a cell phone, to name the basics.
4. Check the child safety seats. It's been reported that up to 80 per cent of child safety seats are installed incorrectly! That could lead to serious injury of their young children in the event of a collision or hard stop. To avoid this, have your child safety seats checked by a professional for proper installation.
5. Check the back seat. While we're looking in the back seat and stop talking drive, check to see what else is there. Loose items can become projectiles in the event of a hard braking situation, so be sure to store items under seats or in the trunk. In addition, as you would at home, make sure there is no danger of suffocation (coins, buttons and buttons that can detach, etc.) that young children can get their hands on.
6. Press and hold the weight. Similar to the above suggestion, heavier items (strollers, luggage, etc.) should also be stored and secured in the trunk or cargo area, where they can cause injury if they fall off.
7. Be safe in the sun. Even when riding in the car, you and your children may be exposed to the sun. So be sure to equip all wearing sunglasses and sunscreen. For younger children, you may even want a hat for sun and / or a parasol on the windows. If it's a hot day, remember also that when you return the vehicle if it is parked in the sun, the seats can be hot enough to burn the skin of a child. And, of course, never, never leave children unattended in the car.

Anyone has child safety seat in a Toyota Tacoma Ext Cab?
I'm considering to buy a used Toyota Tacoma, from years 2000 or newer, with the extended/extra cab. There is a rear fold-down for placing baby/child seats, but I'm not sure how well that works. Anyone here have a Tacoma Ext Cab with a child safety seat installed forward facing? Is there enough room back there to actually have one secured? How safe is it? What year/model Tacoma do you have? What brand/model seat did you use? Any pictures? What is your opinion from your experience?
If it won't work in the Ext Cab, I guess I'll have to get a double cab. What year did they start making the double cab in the Tacoma?
Thanks.
